On Saturday June 17th our YCW Auskicker’s had the opportunity to learn from some of the best and make memories that will last them a life time.
We were able to welcome St Kilda players Bailey Rice and Dylan Roberton to Frankston YCW. Bailey for the first time and Dylan was welcomed back once again to where his junior football career began.
A very crisp and frosty start to the day turned into a beautiful morning. After a short question and answer session they were ...into it. Warming up with a quick run around the ground to shake of the last of the sleep fairies (these kids were backing up after their Friday night session) and into some goal kicking practice. Plenty of encouragement and few pointers were given out by both Dylan and Bailey, their interaction with the kids was fantastic…..they were certainly kicking goals in my eyes.
After a few more drills and laughter it was onto the main event….the scratch match. Our little super stars emerged full of confidence and had an absolute ball. They were of coarse playing alongside AFL players who they had seen on TV just last night, how exciting.
To finish off the morning the St Kilda boys held a little quiz and there were prizes for all, this was turning out to be better than Christmas for both the kids and the adults!
We must thank Bailey and Dylan for the wonderful experience they provided for the kids of our club, they went above and beyond what was expected of them, the best club visit I have ever been a part of. They may have even recruited a few more Saints supporters after their wonderful efforts.
